Job Title: Mechanical Assembler Job Description

This role focuses on electro-mechanical assembly, repair, and overhaul of train connection systems and related products in a busy sales and operations facility. You will work hands-on with mechanical and power tools, follow detailed technical drawings and procedures, and contribute to a clean, safe, and efficient production environment while supporting cross-functional activities such as testing, documentation, shipping, and inventory control.

Responsibilities

• Work safely at all times, actively avoid health and safety risks, and promptly observe and report any hazards in the workplace.

• Perform electro-mechanical assembly of products according to specified requirements, technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.

• Carry out pre-delivery testing of assembled products, complete required documentation, and ensure approvals are obtained before shipment.

• Document products accurately in ITC lists and other required records, maintaining legible and complete documentation.

• Report work time and activities in the ERP system or similar tools in an accurate and timely manner.

• Support colleagues and collaborate across functions when needed to meet production, repair, and delivery goals.

• Maintain a clean and organized working area in accordance with 5S principles and perform basic overhaul and care of equipment.

• Participate in improvement groups, contribute ideas, and help initiate and implement process and quality improvements.

• Clean, disassemble, repair, and overhaul train connection system products in line with customer orders and established procedures.

• Document all repair and overhaul work in accordance with implemented procedures and quality standards.

• Assist with receiving, shipping, inspection, and material picking activities when required to support overall operations.

• Maintain quality and cleanliness of inventory locations when picking materials, supporting accurate inventory control.

• Use mechanical hand tools and power tools such as wrenches, impact guns, drills, table saws, pneumatic nail guns, micrometers, and calipers in daily work.

• Follow all company directives, work instructions, and safety procedures consistently.

• Perform physical tasks including prolonged standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting as required for assembly and material handling.

• Lift, carry, and move materials and products, including items weighing up to approximately 70 pounds when necessary.

• Assemble products or machines with precise manual dexterity and excellent hand-eye coordination, including work with colored wires, tabs, and electronic components.

• Maintain dependable work habits, including punctuality, productivity, attention to detail, and the ability to work without constant supervision.

Essential Skills

• Preferably 3+ years of experience in mechanical assembly or production environments.

• Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and passion for working with hands, using tools such as wrenches, impact guns, micrometers, and calipers.

• Comfort working with hand tools and power tools including drills, table saws, and pneumatic nail guns.

• Ability to perform electro-mechanical assembly and testing according to defined specifications.

• Good organizational skills to manage tasks, materials, and documentation effectively.

• Practical communication skills for collaborating with co-workers and other work-related contacts.

• Problem-solving skills and critical thinking to identify and resolve issues in assembly and repair processes.

• Ability to stand for prolonged periods and perform repetitive tasks safely and efficiently.

• Capability to lift and move materials, with requirements including lifting up to approximately 40–70 pounds.

• Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precise assembly work.

• Ability to differentiate between colored wires, tabs, and electronic components during assembly and repair.

• Commitment to following all procedures, rules, regulations, and safety directives.

• Dependability, including timeliness, productivity, attention to detail, and ability to work with limited supervision.

• Legible handwriting for completing documentation and records.

• Reliable transportation to and from the workplace.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Forklift experience is preferred.

• Overhead crane experience is a plus.

• Experience with ERP systems or similar tools for time reporting and documentation is beneficial.

• Comfort working in a structured environment that uses 5S principles for organization and cleanliness.

• Willingness to be taught, share knowledge, and contribute to team learning and continuous improvement.

Work Environment

The role is based in a main sales and operations facility in Charlotte, NC, within a production and service environment focused on train connection systems. Work is hands-on and tool-intensive, involving mechanical and power tools such as wrenches, impact guns, drills, table saws, pneumatic nail guns, micrometers, and calipers, as well as interaction with ERP systems and formal documentation processes. Typical hours follow daytime shifts (for example, around 6:30–3:00 or 7:00–3:30 with a 30-minute lunch), supporting a predictable schedule. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organization through adherence to procedures, rules, regulations, and 5S principles. Work requires prolonged standing, walking, bending, squatting, and repetitive tasks, along with occasional lifting of heavier items. Personal protective equipment such as gloves and hearing protection is required when appropriate, reflecting a strong commitment to a safe and orderly workplace.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Roseville, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
