In this Clinical Pharmacist – Inpatient role, you will support pharmacy operations at Akron General, providing medication preparation, distribution, and clinical oversight across multiple inpatient service lines. You will collaborate closely with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, nursing staff, and other clinical caregivers while supporting patient chart review, order verification, medication troubleshooting, and pharmacy operational workflows. You will also assist with sterile and non‑sterile compounding checks for Akron Main within a supportive, team‑oriented hospital environment that offers broad learning exposure. Responsibilities Provide safe, efficient, patient‑centered, evidence‑based medication services. Verify medication orders and/or dispense medications accurately according to state and federal regulations. Document services in a complete, accurate and timely manner. Actively contribute to medication safety initiatives. Ensure all pharmacy operations are in compliance with national accreditation standards. Direct staff appropriately to provide safe and efficient care and maintain professional working relationships with all caregivers. Educate and train students, residents, other caregivers and/or patients. Minimum qualifications PharmD or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college of Pharmacy. Current State licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligibility for reciprocation in current state within 90 days of hire. For individuals required to administer immunizations: BLS through American Heart Association or American Red Cross and completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations or certification obtained within 90 days of hire. For individuals required to respond to adult or pediatric cardiopulmonary arrest events: current ACLS or PALS Certification through American Heart Association, or certification obtained within one year of hire. Preferred qualifications Board Certification. Completion of a post‑graduate year 1 residency (PGY‑1), fellowship or relevant post‑graduate pharmacy experience preferred. Post‑graduate year 2 residency (PGY‑2) or relevant experience preferred for Clinical Pharmacists hired in a specialized pharmacy practice area (i.e., Critical Care, Oncology). Prior inpatient experience. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods, approximately 75% of shift, continuously for extended periods. Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting as required. Normal or corrected vision. Ability to communicate verbally by phone or in person. Personal Protective Equipment Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
