Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose Milk Technicians in the NICU are responsible for critical measurement and mixing of infant formula based on respective physician orders for the entire pediatric hospital in addition to performing same skills in the NICU. The role is responsible for adding various additives, calculating and dividing feedings appropriately for all babies receiving breast milk and/or donor milk. Responsibilities Precise and specific measurement and mixing of formula daily. Daily management of breast milk supply for the respective patient population. Ensures proper preparation for the timely thawing of needed milk supplies, adhering to hospital guidelines for storage, temperature monitoring and expiration dates. Utilizes specific mathematical skills and appropriate spreadsheets to calculate and measure additives in the milk (protein, iron, calories). Calculates and divides milk into individual feeds while assuring proper adherence to milk supply to manage and plan for waste avoidance. Minimum Requirements Education High School Diploma or GED. Experience Less than 2 years.
