Building Liaison

Part Time Community-Building Liaison/Custodial Assistant

Reports to: Community Education, Director of Operations, and work direction from lead custodian

Job Summary: As the primary contact for user groups outside the regular instructional day, respond to user group needs and monitor user group activities and community members and perform light custodial duties. Assist users with registration for future classes and keep information at the site up-to-date.

Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:

• Arrive prior to facility users and ensure that user facility equipment needs are set up and are being met throughout use;
• Review building expectations with user group coordinator;
• Actively move about the building and be accessible to user group members;
• Be visible, available and accessible to user group coordinators to ensure a satisfactory experience;
• Monitor community members within schools and ensure that facilities are treated with respect;
• Provide passive supervision of individuals and notify user group coordinators if problems arise;
• Communicate any issues or concerns to Community Education;
• Perform light custodial duties during and after user group activities such as sweeping hallways, emptying trash, maintaining cleanliness of bathrooms, clean up spills, shovel entryways, etc.;
• Assists custodians with set up or take down of certain user group equipment such as bleachers, chairs, tables, etc;
• Open/lock up buildings as assigned;
• Reports maintenance needs to the Custodian on duty;
• Register users for Community Education programs;
• Ensure information on site is up-to-date, including posted schedules;
• Other duties as assigned.

Other functions of the job include but are not limited to the following:

• Work cooperatively with custodians on duty and community members;
• Performs other general duties as needed or assigned to ensure smooth operation of the department.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must demonstrate basic knowledge of building cleaning skills;
• Must be able to work evening hours;
• Must have excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with employees and community members;
• Proven ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others including students at age level of position and present a professional appearance;
• Ability to work independently with little work direction;
• Must have the ability and proven record of reporting to work on a regular and punctual basis.

Physical Requirements:

Tasks involve prolonged periods of walking, standing, stooping, lifting etc. Although minimized by safety practices, accidents, chemical and physical hazards connected with this work are always present. This position requires good physical conditioning, strength, agility, endurance with no serious defect of vision or hearing. Must be able to climb ladders and lift 50# on own or 75# with assistance on a regular basis.
