Laboratory Technician

Job Overview

Lead the Coatings and Feeding Systems, supporting product development and technical efforts providing support to the M&T and manufacturing teams.

None

Dimensions of Position

Lab Technicians have no direct reports. Perform testing for one or more business units. Conduct lab bench testing for product development, raw material validations, cost down projects and process improvements. Main liaison between manufacturing functions and product management regarding all product and process related technology.

Key Result Areas

• Plan and perform laboratory tests to assist in making qualitative or quantitative analyses of materials and batches.
• Perform routine analyses to check accuracy, applicability, and reasonableness of test data.
• Record data and prepare simple charts or graphs.
• Accurately follow work instructions along with established operating procedures and test methods.
• Maintain and clean laboratory instruments or equipment.
• Provide and maintain safe work environment by participating in safety programs, committees, or teams and by conducting laboratory/plant safety audits.
• Assist with recipe management system administration as needed.

Main Interactions

• Production Unit Managers – review progress on key projects from Product Development, Manufacturing and Technology Development perspectives.
• Purchasing – address technical issues as required.
• M&T Director – interact as required.
• Key Customers – as required and by direction of product line managers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in STEM related fields are welcome; Chemistry or related field preferred.
• 1+ years laboratory experience preferred.

Experience

Related lab experience preferred.

Knowledge

Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing procedures.

• Good prioritization, administrative and time management skills.

Problem Solving & Complexity

Lab Technicians can troubleshoot basic equipment problems. Questions involving testing or experiment parameters are elevated to Engineers.
