Shift: 8 Hours - Day Shifts

Job Schedule: Full time

Weekly Hours: 40.00

Salary Range: $26.00 - $41.50

Schedule: Monday-Friday from 7am-3:30pm. Position does require call which is once per week, and one weekend every 4-5 weeks. Certification as a Certified Surgical Assistant, CSTFA, or RNFA preferred.

Job Summary

Assists operating surgeons in carrying out technical surgical procedures in accordance with applicable safety laws and regulations. Assists operating surgeons with intra-operative procedures like homeostasis, exposure, closure, and other intraoperative technical functions that assist the surgeon in carrying out a safe procedure with optimal results for the patient. Develops specialized preoperative plans in coordination with appropriate surgeons and health team members. Prepares surgical tools and equipment, takes preventative measures to ensure applicable health and safety regulations are satisfied, and assist with patient positioning when necessary. Administers preoperative medications and reports the responses of patients to assigned surgeons and anesthesiologists.

Qualifications

Required to meet one of the following criteria: 1. Eligibility to sit for the certification of Surgical Assistant exam. 2. Current registration through the applicable state board of nursing as a Surgical Technologist while also having current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). Preferred qualification: Candidates who have their first assist certification, but willing to train if not.
