Manufacturing Engineer – Cable & Harness Manufacturing

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to join our team and play a key role in the manufacturing of custom cable assemblies, wire harnesses, and electromechanical assemblies and Tubing assemblies.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, quoting, and the production floor . You won’t be sitting behind a desk all day. You’ll be involved in figuring out how products should be built, how long they should take to build, and how to make the process better.

What You’ll Do

· Develop manufacturing processes for new cable, harness, and electromechanical assemblies and Tubing assemblies.

· Review customer drawings, BOMs, specifications, and engineering requirements.

· Develop accurate manufacturing quotations and labor estimates .

· Determine production operations and establish standard manufacturing times .

· Build and support first article and prototype assemblies .

· Create clear, detailed work instructions and manufacturing documentation .

· Work directly with production personnel to solve manufacturing problems and improve processes.

· Develop tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing aids when needed.

· Support Quality, Engineering, Purchasing, and Production.

· Identify opportunities for improved efficiency, quality, and cost.

· Help develop and maintain our Manufacturing Operation & Time Library , creating a standardized database of manufacturing operations and production times for future quoting and production planning.

· Participate in Lean and continuous improvement activities.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate has practical experience in cable and wire harness manufacturing and understands how to turn an engineering drawing into a product that can actually be built efficiently on the production floor.

We are looking for someone with experience in:

· Cable and wire harness manufacturing

· IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards

· J-STD-001 Solder Certification

· Soldering and solder workmanship

· Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and BOMs

· Manufacturing process development

· First article and prototype assembly

· Quotation development and manufacturing cost estimating

· Labor standards and time studies

· Lean / Cellular Manufacturing

· CAD software

· ERP/MRP systems

· Microsoft Excel and Word

· Technical writing and work instruction development

You Should Be

· Hands-on and mechanically capable

· Detail-oriented and organized

· A strong problem solver

· Comfortable working with both engineers and production employees

· Able to understand both the technical requirements and the practical realities of manufacturing

· Comfortable working independently and managing multiple projects

· An effective technical writer and communicator

· Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word

· Someone who takes pride in finding a better, faster, more repeatable way to build a product
