Job Details Job Location: Amberwell Hiawatha - Hiawatha, KS 66434 Position Type: Full Time Shift: Day Job Category: Surgical Technologist Job Description Surgical technologists are also known as scrubs, scrub technicians, surgical technicians, and operating room technicians. They work under the supervision of a registered nurse and Director of Surgical Care to assist surgeons during surgical procedures. They prepare and organize the sterile field, maintain its integrity, and are experts in surgical instruments and sterile equipment used during procedures. They are responsible for cleaning and sterilizing all surgical instruments and equipment and have a working knowledge of the decontamination‑to‑sterilization process in the Central Sterilization Department. Responsibilities Prepare and organize the sterile field for various surgical procedures. Anticipate surgeon and patient needs during a procedure. Take care of specimens, prepare, check, and monitor medications on the sterile field, and assist with dressings. Set up a sterile and sanitary environment, and maintain the sterile field for the patient during procedures. Utilize correct body mechanics in moving, transporting, and positioning patients, stretchers, and/or tables to prevent injury to patient and personnel. Participate in orientation and education of all operating room staff on an ongoing basis. Participate in stocking and restocking medical supplies. Inspect, replace, and sterilize medical instruments. Qualifications Experience: Minimum required – Experience in the healthcare setting with knowledge of basic anatomy and medical terminology. Preferred – 12 years of experience working as a surgical technologist or similar experience as a practical nurse, medical assistant, or operating room assistant. Education: Minimum required – High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred – Completion of an accredited Surgical Technician or Medical Assistant program. Licenses: Minimum required – None. Preferred – LPN or Certified Surgical Technician. Certifications: Minimum required – BLS. Preferred – Certified Surgical Technician or Certified Medical Assistant. #J-18808-Ljbffr Amberwell Health
