Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor and Delivery

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Labor and Delivery team. This role involves providing comprehensive care to women and newborns in a combined unit that includes Labor and Delivery, post-partum care, antepartum care, and a Level II nursery.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver care for both vaginal and Cesarean deliveries, providing support during labor and postpartum recovery.
• Manage antepartum and observational triage patients with varying degrees of medical conditions.
• Assist with obstetrical procedures such as induction of labor (IOL), cervical ripening, and version techniques.
• Provide bereavement care for intrauterine fetal demise (IUFD) cases.
• Care for neonatal patients in a Level II NICU setting, adhering to established staffing ratios for optimal patient care.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive mother-baby couplet care.
• Act as a supportive resource by utilizing general nursing skills when floated outside of specialty areas.

Qualifications

• Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• AWHONN Intermediate course certification.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
• Experience in a Level 2 inpatient obstetric setting is preferred.

Staffing Ratios

• 1:1 ratio for patients in active labor or with complications.
• 1:3 ratio for stable antepartum patients.
• 1:1-2 for unstable or ill antepartum patients.
• 1:3/4 for couplet care.
• 2:1 for deliveries, ensuring one nurse is focused on the newborn and one on the mother.
• 1:2-3 in the NICU level 2, depending on patient conditions.
