Position Summary

\n

We are seeking an experienced, leadership-driven General Ledger & Tax Accounting Manager to oversee our small business client portfolio and lead our internal team. In this dual-focus role, you will be responsible for managing staff, reviewing deliverables, and maintaining an efficient firm workflow to ensure deadlines are met seamlessly. While you will spend significant time auditing the work of staff bookkeepers and signing off on tax returns, you will also act as the operational engine of the office—keeping projects tracked, assigning tasks, and mentoring junior team members. The ideal candidate brings a sharp eye for finding inconsistencies in small business books and a proven track record of managing a steady team workflow during peak tax seasons.

The position is full-time based in Murrysville, PA with a hybrid arrangement offering both on-site and remote work.

Key Responsibilities

\n

• Workflow & Project Management: Own the firm’s operational workflow schedule. Track client deadlines, distribute workloads appropriately across the team, and ensure bookkeeping and tax projects move smoothly from preparation to final delivery.

• Staff Supervision & Mentorship: Direct, train, and support our internal bookkeeping and tax staff. Answer daily technical accounting questions, provide constructive feedback on their work, and foster a collaborative team environment.

• Quality Control Review: Audit and approve monthly general ledgers, bank reconciliations, and financial statements prepared by the staff. Perform a comprehensive technical review of federal, state, and local small business tax returns (S-Corps, Partnerships, Schedule Cs) for accuracy and compliance.

• Complex File Support: Handle the hands-on preparation of financial statements and tax returns for our most complex or high-priority small business accounts.
\n
• Client Advisory & Relations: Serve as a primary point of contact for client questions. Translate reviewed financial reports into clear, easy-to-understand guidance for local business owners.

Qualifications & Experience

\n

\n

Certification:   EA (Enrolled Agent) or CPA preferred with 4+ years experience managing and reviewing small business tax files and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

\n

\n

Technical Skills: Deep proficiency with  QuickBooks Online / Desktop or similar small business accounting platforms. Comfort using professional tax systems (e.g., Lacerte) and Microsoft Excel.
