Outpatient Registered Nurse - RN Dialysis

Job Summary Must have dialysis experience: This role is available for Part Time or Per Diem positions. The professional registered nurse Outpatient RN CAP 2 is an entry‑level designation within the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP) for new employees who meet RN CAP 2 criteria or who have advanced from RN CAP 1. The RN is accountable for the provision and coordination of clinically competent care—including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation—for an assigned group of patients. The RN may delegate tasks to direct patient‑care staff (RNs, LVN/LPNs, and Patient Care Technicians). As a member of the End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) health‑care team, the RN participates in decision‑making, teaching, leadership functions, and quality‑improvement activities that enhance patient outcomes and facility operations. Principal Duties & Responsibilities Perform all essential functions under the direction of the Supervisor and with guidance from the Clinical Educator, Preceptor, or in collaboration with other Registered Nurses. Conduct ongoing, systematic collection and analysis of patient data pre‑hand, during, and post‑hemodialysis treatment; document findings in the medical record; adjust treatment plans as needed and notify the Team Leader, Charge Nurse, Supervisor, or Physician. Assess, collaborate with, and document patient/family basic learning needs; provide initial and ongoing education to patients and families. Direct and provide safe and effective delivery of hemodialysis therapy to assigned patients in collaboration with direct and ancillary patient‑care staff. Administer medications as prescribed or in accordance with approved algorithms; document medical justification and effectiveness. Initiate or assist with emergency response measures. Serve as a resource, leader, coach, mentor, and role model for new and incumbent employees; set examples of appropriate behavior, work habits, and attitudes toward patients, co‑workers, supervisors, and the company. Ensure correct laboratory collection, processing, and shipping procedures are performed; reschedule missed or insufficient laboratory collections. Identify expected outcomes; document and update the nursing assessment and plan of care for assigned patients through collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team. Ensure patient awareness of transplant and treatment modality options. Participate in education and quality‑improvement projects at the facility and area level as directed by Supervisor. Possibly serve as a Preceptor to new employees. Complete CAP requirements to maintain or advance. Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Physical Demands & Working Conditions The role requires frequent, prolonged standing; lifting and moving patients and equipment; and assisting with ambulation. The RN may need to move machines and equipment of up to 200 lbs. and lift chemicals or water solutions of up to 30 lbs. as high as 5 feet. The work environment involves a health‑care facility with air‑temperature control and moderate noise levels. Exposure to infectious and contagious diseases/materials is possible. The RN may travel to training sites or other facilities and is expected to perform essential functions in other locations with similar demands. Education & Licensure Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Current appropriate state licensure. Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification. Must meet the practice requirements in the state of employment. Experience & Required Skills Entry level for RNs with a minimum of 2 years of nephrology nursing experience. Minimum of 3 months experience in chronic/acute hemodialysis as an RN. Compensation Hourly Rate: $37.00 - $63.00 (dependent on work location and qualifications).
