Job Description
Job Title: Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT)
Profession: Respiratory Care

Hours per Shift: Guaranteed 48 hours/week
Experience: Preferred two years of respiratory care experience in a critical care setting
License: Licensed by the state board as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
Certifications: Registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care
Must-Have: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support within three months of hire
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential must be received within twelve months of hire


Description:
Under general supervision, will provide services for the Respiratory Therapy Department in a timely and efficient manner for all appropriate age levels.
Administers therapeutic treatments as prescribed by attending medical staff.
Records treatment information and patient treatment responses in their computerized medical record.
Acts as a resource person to medical staff.
Performs invasive and noninvasive diagnostic testing and monitoring of patients.
Provides age-appropriate care to patients.
Ensures that respiratory equipment is cleaned and maintained.
Maintains necessary respiratory therapy records.
Performs as part of the quick response team for cardiac and respiratory arrests.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of procedures and techniques of Respiratory Therapy and the operation and repair of respiratory equipment required.
Clinical decision-making skills appropriate to patient care as it relates to the pulmonary and cardiac system and to the age of the patient are necessary.
Ability to interpret the appropriate information to identify patient needs is essential.
Ability to work under stress is important.
Good interpersonal skills are necessary for maintaining a good working relationship with coworkers and staff.
Some basic computer skills are required.
Graduation from an approved Respiratory Care Program is required.
