Diesel Mechanic

Position Description Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Stoneham, Massachusetts. Pay: $35.75 per hour, with hourly pay and bonus incentives. The role offers a second shift schedule (3:00 pm – 11:30 pm) and weekly pay. Benefits Tool Box/Tool Allowance Medical, Dental, Vision after 30 days 80 hours PTO in the first year, starting Day 1 Yearly merit pay increases 401(k) company match PPE, uniforms, and boot allowance Paid training to build skills Safety‑first workplace & state‑of‑the‑art equipment Top Tech Competition: earn up to $50,000 per year U.S. military veterans – extra paid day off 15% company stock discount Up to $5,000 in tech tuition repayment 12 weeks paid maternity leave (subject to eligibility) Employee discounts on tools, vehicles, travel, tech & more Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred Vocational or Technical Certification; post‑secondary degree or technical certifications preferred Basic tools required Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) Two or more years of classroom training and work experience in required area is preferred Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire Pass a Ryder drug test Pass a DOT physical Pass a Ryder road test Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years Responsibilities Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties Execute standard vehicle and component maintenance, inspections, and repairs Conduct preventive maintenance Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer equipment when applicable Identify root causes of basic failures and perform necessary repairs Replace defective components as instructed Carry out facility maintenance duties Interact with customers and drivers to determine nature of complaints once assigned a task Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation tools Adhere to all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT, MOT) Perform other support duties as required, such as Service Island support EEO Statement Ryder is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and Drug‑Free workplace.
