AI/Machine Learning Research Scientist

Salary: $145,170 - 177,430 per year Requirements:

• We require a PhD in electrical engineering, civil engineering, geoinformation science, or a closely related field.
• We require at least 4 years of applied experience.
• We require hands-on experience training machine learning models on high-performance computing systems using GPU accelerators.
• We require experience building satellite imagery preprocessing workflows.
• We require experience using Python or another programming language to develop AI algorithms in the PyTorch framework.
• We prefer experience with spatio-temporal datasets and remote sensing imagery.
• We prefer knowledge of distributed computing and uncertainty quantification.
• We prefer the ability to thrive in a fast-paced research setting, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing needs.
• We cannot offer visa sponsorship for this role.
• We require the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance from the Department of Energy.
• This role is subject to Workplace Substance Abuse Program testing, including a pre-placement drug test, ongoing random drug testing, and possible random polygraph testing.

• We develop and run accelerated imagery preprocessing pipelines for high-resolution satellite imagery.
• We develop and execute workflows that support fine-tuning large geospatial vision models.
• We collect, process, and analyze large volumes of satellite imagery.
• We support the design and implementation of efficient computer vision techniques.
• We present research findings through technical reports and peer-reviewed publications.
• We collaborate with research and technical colleagues to advance GeoAI methods.
• We deliver strong scientific and engineering outputs that demonstrate innovation for our sponsors.
