Summary:

We are seeking a Senior UX Designer (L5) to join the Core Local Journeys team within Geo, supporting high-traffic, consumer-facing experiences across Maps. The team works on foundational Maps surfaces including Search, Saves & Lists, Inspire, and Placesheet , as well as emerging experiences involving personalization, contextualization, and AI-powered Ask Maps experiences .

This is a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment focused on developing new and Client consumer experiences . The ideal candidate will have strong visual and interaction design craft, hands-on prototyping capabilities, and experience designing for mobile-first consumer products at scale .

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and prototype new, innovative consumer experiences across Maps surfaces.
• Develop interactive prototypes to communicate and validate concepts, user flows, and design specifications.
• Create production-ready designs, visual assets, user flows, and detailed design specifications in Figma .
• Work primarily on mobile experiences , with some collaboration around desktop experiences.
• Contribute to experiences involving personalization and contextualization , particularly within Ask Maps and Saves & Lists.
• Explore how AI, Gemini, APIs, live data, and other emerging technologies can enhance consumer experiences.
• Rapidly prototype ideas and test concepts in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.
• Partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, UX Designers, Visual Designers, Writers, and Prompt Writers to bring experiences from concept through execution.
• Lead design critiques, clearly communicate design rationale, and provide constructive feedback to other designers.
• Independently manage and drive complex, ambiguous design projects with limited oversight.
• Use user research, product insights, market trends, and available metrics to inform design decisions.
• Help shape experiences that support discovery, trip planning, saving places, list creation, and personalized recommendations.

Required Qualifications:

• Approximately 8 years of product/UX design experience , appropriate for an L5/Senior-level designer.
• Strong experience designing consumer-facing digital products , particularly high-traffic or frequently used applications.
• Strong visual design, interaction design, and design craft with the ability to produce production-ready work.
• Demonstrated experience creating interactive prototypes , not only static design mockups.
• Strong proficiency with Figma and modern prototyping workflows.
• Experience designing mobile-first experiences , with recent work heavily focused on mobile applications.
• Ability to independently lead ambiguous projects and make informed design decisions.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with Product, Engineering, and other design disciplines.
• Ability to clearly articulate design rationale and participate in or lead design critiques.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design work and prototyping.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience designing for large-scale consumer products or high-traffic applications .
• Experience with AI-powered, generative AI, conversational UI, or AI-integrated experiences .
• Experience using APIs, live data, or code-oriented prototyping workflows.
• Experience with modern prototyping tools such as Google Antigravity, Cloud Code, or Make .
• Experience with consumer products involving navigation, discovery, recommendations, travel, food delivery, or location-based experiences .
• Prior experience at a major technology company or Similar company is a plus.
• Experience working across mobile and desktop platforms.
• Ability to translate research, data, and product insights into effective design solutions.
