Senior Scientist, Chemistry and Delivery Science

About the Role The Role We are looking for an accomplished Scientist to spearhead the development of targeted lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulations within our fast-moving, cross-functional R&D organization. In this role you will push the boundaries of LNP self-assembly, engineer delivery systems for both small- and large-molecule payloads beyond the liver and apply state-of-the-art analytical techniques to link structure with biological performance. Responsibilities Drive research programs on targeted, extra-hepatic LNP delivery—from hypothesis generation through in‑vitro / in‑vivo evaluation Develop and optimize LNP self‑assembly processes; refine composition, payload loading, and surface modifications for tissue and cell‑type specificity Design and execute experiments independently; analyze, interpret, and clearly communicate data to multidisciplinary project teams and leadership Implement and innovate advanced physicochemical and biophysical characterization methods (e.g., DLS, CryoEM, SAXS, ITC, NMR, nFCM) to elucidate structure–function relationships Maintain rigorous electronic laboratory notebooks, SOPs, and study documentation consistent with company expectations Mentor & collaborate with research associates and external partners to meet project milestones Basic Qualifications Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline with 2+ years of experience. Deep expertise in lipid nanoparticle design, formulation, and characterization; hands‑on experience developing targeted or extra‑hepatic LNPs preferred. Proficiency with a broad suite of analytical techniques for nanoparticle size, morphology, composition, and stability assessment. Demonstrated ability to plan and manage multiple projects in a highly collaborative, fast‑paced setting. Preferred Qualifications Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline with 2+ years of experience. Deep expertise in lipid nanoparticle design, formulation, and characterization; hands‑on experience developing targeted or extra‑hepatic LNPs preferred. Proficiency with a broad suite of analytical techniques for nanoparticle size, morphology, composition, and stability assessment. Demonstrated ability to plan and manage multiple projects in a highly collaborative, fast‑paced setting. Clear, concise scientific communication—written and verbal—with a track record of peer‑reviewed publications and/or patents. Experience with high‑throughput methodologies is highly desirable, and familiarity with artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques is considered a strong plus. The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, other incentive compensation, or equity award, subject to company plan eligibility criteria and individual performance.
