Parks Maintenance Worker

There are several vacant positions located in the PARKS DEPARTMENT at the following locations:

• Noonday Zone - 489 Hawkins Store RD. 30144 Kennesaw, GA
• Bishop Zone- 1792 County Services Parkway Marietta, GA 30008
• Mountain Zone- 4845 Dallas Hwy, Powder Springs, GA 30127

The starting rate for this position will not exceed $17.00 per hour.

Essential Functions

Performs a variety of landscaping duties; performs maintenance and construction tasks for various parks and facilities; performs general custodial duties at various parks and facilities; maintains inventory of equipment, parts and supplies; operates or uses a County vehicle, and various equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies in order to complete work assignments; performs general maintenance tasks necessary to keep machinery, equipment and tools in operable condition; performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required; supplemented by one year of experience in parks maintenance, landscaping or related field.

Licenses and Certifications

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License, including appropriate endorsements.

Physical Abilities

Tasks require the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, with greater emphasis on climbing and balancing, but typically also involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds); may occasionally involve heavier objects and materials (up to 100 pounds). Sensory requirements: Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally. Environmental factors: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, heights, confined spaces, electric currents, traffic hazards, bright/dim lights, animal/wildlife attacks, animal/human bites, water hazards, or rude/irate customers.
