WelderThis role offers the opportunity to perform MIG welding and general fabrication in a high-volume manufacturing environment in the Indianapolis area. You will work with heavy steel components, use a variety of hand and power tools, and contribute to the production of steel and metal products on 1st or 3rd shift as part of a collaborative team.ResponsibilitiesPerform MIG welding on steel and metal components according to production requirements and quality standards.Read and interpret blueprints and production drawings to determine welding requirements and specifications.Use a tape measure accurately to verify dimensions and ensure components meet required tolerances.Manually handle and move materials and parts weighing up to 50 pounds throughout the workday.Operate common hand and power tools such as hammers, pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, drills, and grinders safely and efficiently.Grind and finish welds and metal surfaces to meet structural and cosmetic standards.Assist with fitting and fabrication of structures, sheet metal, and other assemblies as needed.Use hoists and other material-handling equipment to move heavy parts and assemblies safely.Support general labor tasks on the production floor to help the team meet project deadlines and production goals.Work effectively in a team atmosphere and collaborate with others on larger projects.Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.Essential SkillsProven MIG welding experience in a production or manufacturing environment.Ability to manually lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and production drawings.Ability to use a tape measure accurately and consistently.Experience using hand and power tools such as hammers, pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, drills, and grinders.Comfort working with heavy steel and metal materials.General labor experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.Ability to safely use hoists and basic material-handling equipment.Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality welds and finished parts.Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with fabrication and fitting of structural components and sheet metal.Experience in high-volume production welding or structural welding.Familiarity with grinding and finishing techniques for steel and metal products.Willingness to assist in various production and general labor tasks as needed to support the team.Why Work Here?You will join a well-established metal fabrication operation that takes pride in building high-quality steel and metal products. The facility can become hot in the summer due to the nature of steel production and welding operations. You will work on a structured schedule, with 1st shift running from 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM Monday through Friday and 3rd shift running from 9:00 PM to 5:30 AM Sunday through Thursday, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch and one paid 10-minute break. The work involves frequent use of welding equipment, grinders, drills, and other fabrication tools, as well as hoists for moving heavy materials. Expect an active, industrial setting where safety procedures and appropriate work attire suitable for a welding and fabrication shop are essential.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lawrence, IN.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
