POSITION SUMMARY: Job Title: Lifeguard FLSA Status: Part-time Reports to: Aquatics Coordinators Starting Pay: $13 per hour PRINICPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain a safe and clean environment at the Monroe County YMCA aquatics facility.
- React to an emergency situation as a qualified first responder.
- Part-time staff should work a minimum of one shift per week or four shifts per month on a consistent basis.
- Must be able to work at SE and NW locations.
- Lead by example and perform all lifeguard duties at a high level.
- Maintain a safe and clean pool facility during each shift.
- Fulfill all lifeguard duties (on time, chemical checks, policy enforcement, etc.).
- Communicate regularly with all lifeguards and staff regarding shift coverage, pool closures, and special situations.
- Be aware of pool(s) conditions - cleanliness, chemical balance, etc.
- Assist with cleaning responsibilities.
- Must attend service training at least once a month (typically held on a Sunday at either location).
- Other duties as requested by Aquatics Director or Coordinator.
- Must have and maintain current lifeguard certification preferably from the American Red Cross and be able to successfully perform life-saving skills.
- Must complete Child Sexual Abuse Prevention training.
- Must be able to lift at least 50lbs.
