The Front Desk Ambassador position is eligible for PFLA time (Paid Leave For All). Employees earn 1 hour of time off for every 40 hours worked, as well as a free fitness center membership.

Hours and Schedule:

Saturday & Sunday, 6:45 am - 12:30 pm and 12:30 - 6:15 pm

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Recreation Supervisor, and under general direction of the registration office personnel, the Front Desk Ambassador is responsible for providing a high level of customer service for all visitors to the Villa Park Recreation Center, and other members of the public.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Greet all patrons entering the facility, determine nature/purpose of visit, and direct or escort them to specific destination.
• Process customer registrations accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale (POS) computer system.
• Answer telephone, screen and forward calls, provide information and take messages.
• Listen to and resolve complaints from members and the public.
• Communicate with registered participants and members when necessary, answering general questions.
• Make a reasonable effort to independently solve problems, referring problems beyond your comfort to the registration staff, Program Supervisors, or Director of Parks & Recreation.
• Be aware of building/classroom use and assist with room set-up for programs/meetings.
• Perform building opening and closing procedures.
• Responsible for proper cash handling, and accurate sales processes.
• Completes other duties within the scope and purpose of this position

Qualifications:

• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency in use of office-related technology (phone, fax, computer, copier, etc).
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must possess the ability to relate well and effectively communicate with the public and other staff members.
• Must possess the ability to maintain a professional demeanor to members, patrons, co-workers, and staff at all times.
• Must possess the ability to arrive on time, clock in prepared to work, then clock out immediately at the end of the shift.
• Knowledge of computers and proficiency using Windows based software.
• Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
• Visual and hearing acuity to perform job-related functions.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to talk, reach, grasp, kneel, stoop and bend.
• Ability to spend up to 75% of work time sitting at computer workstation.
• Ability to perform job-related functions within Department offices and/or facilities.
