Position Goal The goal of the School Psychologist is to support the academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and mental health needs of all students through comprehensive psychological services that promote equitable access to learning and student success. This position ensures that students receive appropriate evaluations, interventions, and supports that address barriers to learning and foster positive educational outcomes. The School Psychologist is responsible for conducting comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations, interpreting assessment data, participating in multidisciplinary teams, and providing consultation and evidence-based interventions to support students, staff, and families. They use multiple sources of data to identify student needs, monitor progress, and inform instructional, behavioral, and mental health decision-making. This role fosters safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environments by collaborating with educators, families, community agencies, and related service providers to promote student well‑being, resilience, and academic achievement while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and district regulations. Minimum Requirements Must be eligible or hold a valid License as a State of Delaware School Psychologist Acceptable Criminal Background Report with no entries on the Child Protection Registry in Delaware Successful completion of required Praxis II tests and internship placement Master's degree from an accredited college or university Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, administration, and the general public Evidence of knowledge regarding evidence- and research-based strategies known to be effective in promoting student learning and achievement for students Demonstrates sensitivity to issues impacting various cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups Proficient in technology such as Microsoft and Google Applications, Classlink, Schoology, Infinite Campus, Q-Interactive, etc. Demonstrates understanding and ability to perform job-related tasks Regular attendance is an essential function of the position Must be able to teach/serve students remotely and in person depending on the needs of their students Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations to determine students' eligibility for special education and related services, interpret assessment data, and develop recommendations that support IEPs and student success Develop and implement evidence-based behavioral, social-emotional, and mental health interventions, including FBAs and BIPs, aligned with student needs and district expectations Provide consultation and collaborative support to teachers, families, administrators, and multidisciplinary teams to address students' academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and mental health needs and promote positive educational outcomes Participate as an active member of multidisciplinary teams and IEP meetings by interpreting assessment results, developing appropriate recommendations, and supporting the development, implementation, and monitoring of individualized educational programming Regularly collect, analyze, and interpret academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and intervention data to monitor student progress, inform problem-solving, evaluate intervention effectiveness, and support data-driven educational decision-making Lead and support the implementation of MTSS by collaborating with school teams to identify student needs, develop and monitor interventions, evaluate outcomes, and promote equitable access to academic and behavioral supports Provide culturally responsive psychological services that recognize and respect the diverse backgrounds, strengths, and needs of students and families while promoting equitable educational opportunities Promote positive school climate, student wellness, and mental health through prevention activities, crisis response, consultation, and professional learning that strengthen students' social-emotional and behavioral success Prepare, maintain, and submit comprehensive psychological evaluations, documentation, and required reports in accordance with federal, state, district, and professional standards while adhering to established timelines Communicate regularly and proactively with families regarding student progress, IEP implementation and behavioral supports, and participate in IEP meetings, eligibility determinations, and other required meetings and conferences Administer appropriate and required informal and formal assessments based on student needs, state regulations, and district expectations, including IEP progress monitoring Plan and deliver professional development for staff to build capacity in supporting student success through occupational therapy practices, including strategies that address fine motor development, sensory processing, self-regulation, and functional participation in classroom routines Establish and maintain a cooperative and professional relationship with peers, support staff, teachers, parents, administration, agency staff, and school district staff Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations and policies, completing required paperwork within designated timelines and utilizing district resources to maintain professionalism and avoid noncompliance Attend professional development programs, mandated training, and self-selected workshops/conferences, courses, etc. Maintain current certifications, including clock hours via DEEDS, stay current on evidence-based instructional strategies and technology, and actively engage in required and self-selected professional learning Perform other duties/responsibilities as assigned by the building principal and/or supervisor Physical Demand The employee is regularly required to use hands and/or fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands/arms, talk or hear, taste or smell. The job requires repetitive stopping, twisting, and bending. The employee frequently must stand, walk, and sit and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
