Description

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a General Surgery day shift assignment requiring BLS certification and CST or LVN/LPN licensure.

• Hospital General Surgery unit
• Day shift schedule, 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts (6:30 AM - 3:00 PM)
• Weekend requirement
• On-call requirement
• Floating requirement to other locations
• Epic EMR used
• Hospital-provided scrubs

Requirements

• BLS certification via AHA required
• Certified Surgical Technologist credential required within 180 days of graduation, or active LVN/LPN license required (license required if applicable)
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of a Surgical Technology program or accredited LVN/LPN program required
• 2+ years of experience preferred
• Proficiency scrubbing 3 or more specialty areas highly preferred (e.g., transplants, open heart, urology, neurology, robotics)

Additional Information

• Assist with preparing and caring for pre-operative patients, including skin prep and positioning per surgical requirements
• Maintain aseptic technique and sterile field throughout procedures
• Pass instruments and sutures to physicians and assist as directed during surgery
• Transport patients to and from the OR suite
• Identify and care for biological specimens
• Utilize physician preference cards when pulling cases and setting up the OR, keeping them updated as needed
• Maintain a safe surgical environment through proper traffic control, dress code adherence, and OR sanitation practices
• Adhere to Universal Barrier Precautions for patient and personal safety
• Work collaboratively as part of the surgical care team
• Adapt care approach to meet population-specific and developmental needs of patients served
• First-time travelers may be considered
• Local candidates may be accepted depending on facility approval
• Radius rule of 50 miles applies for travel rate eligibility
• Returning employees must have a 6-month separation from any CHRISTUS facility system-wide prior to starting a new travel assignment
