Position Summary

Phoenix Pumps is seeking a Pump Repair Technician to join our Service Center team. This position is ideal for mechanically inclined individuals with experience repairing pumps, rotating equipment, industrial machinery, or other mechanical systems.

The Pump Repair Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding, testing, and documenting repairs on a variety of rotating equipment. This position requires strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing quality repairs while working safely in a team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Disassemble, inspect, evaluate, and rebuild pumps and other rotating equipment, including Tier 1 pumps such as air-operated diaphragm (AOD) pumps and small centrifugal pumps.
• Diagnose equipment failures and determine the root cause of mechanical issues.
• Complete repair evaluations and accurately document findings, recommended repairs, replacement parts, and causes of failure on work orders.
• Read and interpret exploded drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, parts lists, and technical documentation.
• Clean pump components using parts washers, bead blasters, and other approved cleaning methods.
• Repair or replace mechanical seals, bearings, shafts, impellers, wear rings, O-rings, gaskets, and other pump components.
• Perform precision measurements using calipers, dial indicators, micrometers, and other measuring equipment.
• Assemble repaired equipment according to manufacturer specifications and company quality standards.
• Test repaired equipment to verify proper operation before final preparation and shipment.
• Prepare completed equipment for delivery, including painting and final inspection when required.
• Safely operate shop equipment including hydraulic presses, drill presses, band saws, surface grinders, overhead cranes, jib cranes, power tools, and other repair equipment.
• Maintain accurate work orders, repair documentation, and inspection records throughout each project.
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements.
• Support fellow technicians, machinists, supervisors, and other departments as needed to meet production schedules and customer commitments.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2 years of mechanical repair experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
• Experience using hand tools and precision measuring equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and mechanical documentation.
• Valid driver's license.
• Strong work ethic with dependable attendance.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience repairing pumps, motors, gearboxes, or other rotating equipment.
• Experience in industrial maintenance, manufacturing, heavy equipment, automotive, diesel, HVAC, military maintenance, or process equipment repair.
• Experience using calipers, dial indicators, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments.
• Technical school, vocational training, apprenticeship, or military mechanical training.
• Experience troubleshooting mechanical failures and documenting repair recommendations.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely operate shop machinery, cranes, and power tools.
• Ability to perform repetitive bending, kneeling, crouching, and lifting.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Work Environment

• Industrial pump repair and service center environment.
• Shop utilizes evaporative (swamp cooler) cooling systems.
• Moderate to high noise levels typical of industrial repair facilities.
• Regular use of cranes, presses, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
• Monday–Friday schedule with shifts beginning at either 6:00 AM or 7:00 AM.
• Overtime may be required based on customer and business demands.
• Work assignments may vary based on operational needs.

• Successful completion of a mechanical aptitude assessment.
• Successful completion of a pump knowledge assessment.
• Participation in a two-step interview process.
• Successful completion of a background check.
• Successful completion of a drug screening.
