Real Estate Accounting Manager

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Real Estate Accounting Manager to oversee accounting operations for a diverse commercial real estate portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in property accounting, lease accounting, and financial reporting, with hands-on experience managing complex lease agreements and reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations for a portfolio of commercial real estate properties.

• Manage lease accounting activities, including lease administration, rent schedules, and compliance with ASC 842.
\n
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
\n
• Oversee CAM reconciliations, operating expense allocations, and tenant billings.
\n
• Review lease agreements to ensure accurate accounting treatment of rent escalations, abatements, and other lease provisions.
\n
• Manage month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger activities.
\n
• Partner with property management, leasing, and finance teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
\n
• Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
\n
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting efficiencies.

Qualifications

\n
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
\n
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including commercial real estate accounting.
\n
• Lease accounting experience required.
\n
• Strong knowledge of ASC 842, CAM reconciliations, and commercial lease structures.
\n
• Experience managing accounting for multiple properties or a real estate portfolio.
\n
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
\n
• Proficiency in Excel and real estate accounting software such as Yardi or MRI preferred.
\n
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
\n
• Prior supervisory or management experience preferred.
