AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC

This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to Moody AFB Auto Hobby Shop. The purpose of this position is to troubleshoot, repair, test, and/or overhaul major components on motor vehicles. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Physical Effort: Requires frequent standing, bending, stooping, crawling under vehicles and working tight spaces. Frequently lifts, handles, and carries parts and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Occasionally move moderately heavy items with assistance or with mechanical devices. Qualifying Experience: Must have experience in the maintenance and repair of diesel and gasoline powered engines which included the full range of repairing, disassembling, troubleshooting and overhauling of these engines, and provided all of the following: Knowledge of the makeup, operation, and installation of complex major systems and assemblies to troubleshoot and repair a variety of systems or to rebuild one or more systems; knowledge to test and troubleshoot components and systems to locate equipment defect; ability to interpret and apply manufacturer's repair manuals and technical specifications, schematics and engineering drawings, diagnostic codes, computer printouts, and safety manuals; and the ability to operate electronic test equipment. Must be able to frequently lift, and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds, and occasionally, objects weighing over 50 pounds. Frequently stands, bends, stoops, crawls and works in tight spaces. Satisfactory completion of pre-employment physical is required. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI}. This is a drug testing designated position.
