SUMMARY

Neonatal ICU, Mother‑Baby, Labor & Delivery, Lactation, and Perinatal Education departments in a busy, fast‑paced environment with 150‑200 deliveries a month, two ORs for cesarean sections, and an average daily census of eight NICU babies. Our hospital has earned Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care from The Joint Commission and works closely with Children’s Mercy neonatology specialists who staff our NICU and delivery team 24/7, along with respiratory care and other specialists, to provide the best possible outcomes. The culture values each team member’s expertise and input, creating a positive, patient‑centered experience for families. Under the direction of the department nurse director, this role provides care to the obstetrical and neonatal patient during the postpartum phase of pregnancy, performs assessments and cares for the postpartum patient and neonate, provides education to the mother on care, feeding, and infant security, and ensures the patient and infant are prepared for discharge.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide comprehensive care to obstetrical and neonatal patients during the postpartum phase of pregnancy. Perform assessments and provide care for the postpartum patient and neonate. Deliver education to the mother regarding infant care, feeding, and safety. Ensure the patient and infant are readied for discharge.

EXPERIENCE

One year of labor and birth or mother‑baby care preferred.

OTHER

Basic computer skills.

LICENSE/CERT

Required: RN (Registered Nurse) State of Missouri, BLS (Basic Life Support) from AHA. Preferred: NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).

EDUCATION
