Advanced LPN | Licensed Practical Nurse - Family Medicine

Join a dedicated healthcare team in a regional medical practice serving the heart of the Midwest. This full-time, day-shift Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) role supports physicians and mid-level providers by delivering comprehensive patient care, including assessments, treatments, testing, and education.

Key Responsibilities

• Adhere to clinic policies ensuring patient safety, infection control, and proper handling techniques.
• Administer medications via oral, intramuscular, and subcutaneous routes as prescribed.
• Assist providers during procedures, maintain sterile fields, and manage instrument trays.
• Support examinations within the scope of licensure and perform phone triage.
• Serve as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers, communicating test results and addressing patient inquiries.
• Document patient complaints and visit details accurately according to provider preferences.
• Escort patients to exam rooms and obtain vital signs, height, and weight.
• Manage and update medication lists and summaries.
• Perform point-of-care lab testing and collect specimens as ordered.
• Educate patients and guardians on electronic health record tools and provide supportive teaching.
• Schedule diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including obtaining necessary precertifications and authorizations.
• Train new LPNs and medical assistants in clinic protocols.
• Demonstrate accountability, adaptability, teamwork, and maintain punctuality and attendance standards.

Education

Graduate of an accredited LPN program with completion of an approved IV therapy course.

Experience

Previous nursing or healthcare experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Certifications and Licenses

Current LPN license valid in the state of practice and American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification required.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Requires considerable mental focus, ability to lift up to 35 pounds, and perform activities involving standing, walking, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases, as well as occasional encounters with hostile individuals. Minimal physical discomfort expected.
