Responsibilities The RN’s practice is guided by the ANA Standard for Professional Nurse and Code of Ethics. Responsibilities include recording patients’ medical history, performing diagnostic tests, administering treatments and medications, and supporting patient follow‑up and rehabilitation. The RN establishes or contributes to a care plan and may administer medication, maintain IV lines, administer therapies, observe patients, consult with physicians, and educate patients and families on self‑care and post‑treatment requirements. The RN provides direction to licensed practical nurses and nursing aides, precepts new staff and students, and continually enhances knowledge in nursing management to improve patient outcomes and promote a healthy work environment. Identify expected outcomes individualized to the patient and develop evidence‑based, family‑centered care plans. Implement interventions, initiate treatments and medications, and provide nursing care that meets physical, emotional, spiritual, and social‑cultural needs. Evaluate patient progress toward outcomes, document observations and interventions, and continually assess the quality and effectiveness of care plans. Evaluate one's own practice against professional standards, maintaining current knowledge and systematically evaluating nursing practice quality. Integrate ethical principles, enhance knowledge of culture and diversity, and collaborate on professional development at institutional and regional levels. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care delivery. Develop and evaluate evidence‑based standards of care, identify changes needed, and facilitate adoption and adaptation of improved practices. Consider safety, effectiveness, and cost in planning and delivering patient care, utilizing resources efficiently. Education Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) – Preferred All Diploma and ADN hires must complete a BSN within 60 months of hire date OR have 10 years of Registered Nurse experience (direct or indirect). – Required Associate’s Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
