Cancer Registry Assistant - Part Time, Day Shift

Job Summary: Collects, summarizes and records a wide range of data on cancer patients for the purposes of statistic reporting and cancer research support. Participates in case finding, abstract creation and follow up. Works on routine assignments within defined parameters, established guidelines and precedents. Job Requirements: Education and Work Experience:

• High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related

experience: Preferred Licenses/Certifications:

• Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR): Preferred
• Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT): Preferred

Essential Functions: * Uses medical records and pathology reports to identify all cases seen, diagnosed and/or treated at the facility for inclusion in the cancer registry. * Obtains and summarizes core information for each case, including demographics, cancer history, diagnostic procedures and diagnosis, stage and extent of disease, treatment regimens and protocols, drug doses and reactions, disease response and adverse events. Inputs data into cancer registry using standardized medical codes. * Performs regular follow-up with all patients in the cancer registry to update conditions and status. * Adheres to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other patient confidentiality guidelines and regulations. Ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulatory agencies, including the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (ACoS CoC).

• Coordinates and promotes cancer conferences and lectures.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
