Job Summary An inspirational and organized leader who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves to ensure the overall success of daily kitchen operations, including recruiting, training, and food preparation. The Executive Chef showcases culinary talents through the delivery of high‑quality food, personally engaging in task performance while developing and empowering onsite staff. They continually improve resident, employee, and client satisfaction while maximizing financial performance, meeting monthly budget, food and labor cost targets, and maintaining safe handling of food through rigorous safety and sanitation protocols. Leading Culinary Operation Lead daily culinary production, ensuring meals, food quality, presentation, safety, and sanitation standards, team productivity, performance, cost controls, and profitability. Determine food presentation and create decorative displays. Guide menu development based on product availability, creating distinctive specials with seasonal or special ingredients. Source fresh foods and monitor all produce and meat for freshness. Maintain product consistency by inspecting seasonings, portions, and appearance. Research customer preferences and develop menus incorporating local foods and flavors. Prepare and cook foods for regular service or special events. Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to staff. Supervise cooks and workers in food preparation. Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and company health, safety, sanitation standards. Provide guidance to subordinates, setting performance standards and monitoring performance. Communicate safety procedures, ensuring employee understanding and monitoring processes. Monitor quality of raw and cooked foods to meet standards. Follow and enforce food safety and sanitation guidelines. Maintain purchasing, receiving, and food storage standards. Business & Financial Acumen Participate in developing and implementing business strategies aligned with client mission, vision, and values. Manage department controllable expenses, including food cost, supplies, uniforms, and equipment. Develop and implement purchasing and receiving guidelines and controls. Analyze financial and operational data to adjust business plans, labor needs, and operating costs. Develop, implement, and manage the department budget; continuously analyze, forecast, monitor, and control labor and food costs to meet or exceed objectives. Identify revenue and expense opportunities and potential problems. Control food cost, labor, and other expenses; monitor actual versus budgeted expenses. Oversee food inventory, purchasing, and disbursement of all supplies. Schedule staff based on forecasted volumes. Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service Create 100% resident satisfaction by training and equipping team members to maximize engagement and deliver best‑in‑class service. Maintain professional attitude and appearance while engaging with residents and community staff. Improve service by communicating and coaching to understand guest needs. Support service behaviors that exceed expectations for customer satisfaction and retention. Empower employees to provide excellent customer service and establish clear expectations. Ensure employees receive ongoing training on guest expectations. Promote genuine hospitality and teamwork. Use teamwork to support guests and employees. Seek opportunities to improve customer experience through resident feedback and strategy development. Review resident satisfaction data to identify improvement areas. Respond to and handle guest problems and complaints. Team Building and Management Lead team member meetings regularly. Establish performance, budget, and team goals. Solicit employee feedback, maintain an open‑door policy, and review satisfaction results. Develop and implement engagement strategies and practices. Ensure fair and equitable treatment of employees. Provide training for expectations and job responsibilities. Equip team members with necessary tools. Communicate performance expectations and give ongoing feedback. Coach and counsel employees to reach performance objectives and potential. Preferred Qualifications A.S. or equivalent experience. Minimum 5 years of progressive culinary/kitchen management experience (degree or training considered). Extensive catering experience a plus. High‑volume, complex foodservice operations experience highly desirable. Institutional and batch cooking experience. Hands‑on chef experience required. Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends, quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation. Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, email, and internet. Willingness to participate in client satisfaction programs. ServSafe certification highly desirable.
