Certified Nursing Assistant Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant or nursing assistant in a long-term care setting
• Current New York State Nursing Assistant Certification
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or RQI
• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to work evening shifts, every other weekend, and required holidays
• Compassionate communication skills and a commitment to protecting resident dignity, privacy, and rights

Long-Term Care CNA Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living, including hygiene, grooming, dressing, toileting, and skin care, according to the care plan
• Respond promptly to call lights and help maintain a safe, clean, and supportive resident environment
• Use appropriate safety equipment and precautions to help prevent falls and injuries
• Support residents during meals by delivering trays, assisting with feeding, using adaptive equipment, and honoring food preferences
• Assist with mobility, transfers, ambulation, range-of-motion exercises, positioning, and rehabilitation activities
• Measure and record vital signs, weight, intake, and output accurately
• Assist with resident admissions, transfers, and discharges
• Provide companionship and support residents’ social and emotional needs
• Report resident concerns, changes in condition, or refusals of care promptly to the nurse
• Complete required documentation accurately and on time according to facility protocols
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold resident rights at all times
• Follow appropriate precautions when tasks may involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues
