Dental Receptionist and treatment plan coordinator

We are looking for a friendly, organized, and dependable Dental Receptionist to join our dental team. The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, comfortable communicating with patients, and able to confidently handle dental insurance and treatment plan discussions.

Responsibilities

• Greet and check patients in and out in a friendly and professional manner
• Answer incoming phone calls, schedule appointments, and respond to patient questions
• Verify dental insurance eligibility, benefits, deductibles, and coverage
• Review treatment plans and explain estimated patient portions and insurance benefits
• Submit, track, and follow up on dental insurance claims
• Assist with insurance pre-authorizations and claim documentation when needed
• Collect patient payments and accurately post payments to patient accounts
• Maintain accurate patient records and update insurance and demographic information
• Communicate with patients regarding appointments, treatment plans, insurance, and account balances
• Coordinate closely with the dental assistants, hygienists, and doctors to ensure a smooth patient experience
• Help maintain an organized, welcoming, and efficient front office
• Follow up on outstanding insurance claims and patient balances
• Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements

Qualifications

• Previous dental front office/reception experience preferred
• Knowledge of dental insurance and common dental procedures preferred
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Comfortable discussing treatment plans, insurance benefits, and financial arrangements with patients
• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
• Detail-oriented with strong computer skills
• Professional, friendly, and dependable
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who takes pride in providing excellent patient service, is comfortable with the business and insurance side of dentistry , and can stay organized in a busy dental office. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to communicate clearly with patients are essential.

Experience with open dental or other dental software and insurance verification/claims is a plus.
