Nurse Practitioner – Pediatrics (Physician). Position located at Fort Drum, NY. Location Fort Drum MEDDAC Guthrie Ambulatory Clinic, New York. The position may be reassigned within a 40‑mile radius of the assigned Military Treatment Facility with prior notice. Working Hours Clinic duty: Monday–Friday, 7:30 am–4:30 pm (including a 60‑minute unpaid lunch). Federal holidays are observed. No on‑call, overage, or call‑back hours. Responsibilities Provide a full range of outcome‑based nurse practitioner services in accordance with MTF privileges (screening, examinations, immunizations, diagnosis, treatment, counseling for routine, acute and chronic conditions). Technically direct and teach staff, deliver evidence‑based lectures, and participate in in‑service training. Diagnose and treat patients with acute conditions, chronic illnesses, or minor trauma within accepted protocols, clinical practice guidelines, and the Nurse Practice Act, and in consultation with a physician when appropriate. Promote preventive care and health maintenance including annual physicals and health‑behavior education. Communicate and collaborate with a diverse healthcare team and with patients and families for treatment planning. Identify isolation‑requiring conditions and apply universal precautions. Attend staff meetings for case discussion, education, and continuous quality improvement. Order diagnostic tests and request consultations or referrals as needed. Function as a technical leader for the clinic staff, adhering to governmental and professional standards. Maintain adequate clinical experience for common pediatric conditions (e.g., respiratory infections, ear/eye diseases, asthma, eczema) and procedures performed by a pediatric nurse practitioner. Qualifications Graduate degree or higher in nursing from an accredited program in the specialty of the position; accrediting body must be recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was awarded. Active Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications. At least one year of recent experience as a pediatric nurse practitioner within the past two years. Completion of a formal post‑graduate certificate program in the relevant specialty and national certification through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) or the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Current, unrestricted, and valid nursing license in one of the 50 U.S. states or territories; additional licenses must remain in good standing. U.S. citizenship and ability to read, write, and speak English fluently. Demonstrated initiative, interpersonal and social sensitivity to serve diverse patients and families.
