Obstetrics Physician

Seeking a Locum OB/GYN Hospitalist to begin as soon as possible for 24-hour in-house maternity coverage.

Schedule & Coverage

• 24-hour shifts: 7 AM 7 AM

• Physicians may not work more than two consecutive 24-hour shifts

• In-house call with call rooms provided

• Start: ASAP

• Facility will not accept local Des Moines providers

Practice Setting

• Inpatient OB hospitalist role only

• No outpatient or telehealth responsibilities

• No GYN coverage required

• OB Emergency Department with an 8-bed unit

• MFM available on call

• Residents present but not supervised by the hospitalist

Clinical Responsibilities

• OBED patient care

• Emergency obstetric cases

• Vaginal deliveries and C-sections

• Care for unassigned OB patients

• Participation in Iowa s only maternity transport team

Patient Volume

• Approximately 1,389 OBED visits per year

• Roughly 463 deliveries annually

Facility Resources

• Imaging, lab, and pharmacy on site

• EMR: Epic

Travel & Reimbursement

• Standard travel reimbursement policies apply

• Credentialing/application fees are not reimbursed

Submission Requirements

• Board certified or truly board eligible in OB/GYN

• Active Iowa license strongly preferred (or IMLC eligibility)

• Must be able to start ASAP

• Clean malpractice and background history

• NPDB self-query dated within the month of submission

• Provider must reside outside the Des Moines local area
