Infusion Registered Nurse

Infusion Registered Nurse Location: Fairfax, VA 22031 – Multi‑site Rheumatology Practice in Maryland, Virginia, and DC. Position Type: Full Time. Work Week: Monday–Thursday (4 days). Pay: $80,000+ annually, depending on experience. Travel: up to 25%. Reports Directly To: Infusion Director. Practices under the direct supervision of a Licensed Medical Provider (MD / PA). Supervision Exercised: LPN and MA Delegation. Position Summary Infusion Registered Nurse at a busy multi‑site Rheumatology Practice in Maryland, Virginia, and DC. The role involves direct patient care for an experienced RN, administering Biologic and non‑Biologic therapies for the treatment of autoimmune diseases. Key Duties & Responsibilities Reviews patient chart to ensure that physician’s orders are up‑to‑date and insurance authorization has been obtained prior to patient arrival to office. Obtains brief medical history, checks vital signs, reviews labs and the patient’s list of medications. Provides infusion therapy in a safe and competent manner. Monitors patients and promptly reports changes in their condition or emergencies. Inserts peripheral intravenous catheters, accesses implanted ports, administers injections, and performs phlebotomy, as needed. Provides educational information to patients and families regarding biologic treatments, mechanisms of action, and potential side effects. Schedules patients for infusion therapy and office visits as needed. Communicates with providers and other staff members as appropriate. Remains current with policies mandated by federal and local governments, Medicare/Medicaid programs, and other private health care programs regarding laboratory work handling. Works collaboratively and closely with ARA’s Dispensary. Attends departmental meetings. Performs related work as required. Qualifications Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a nationally accredited nursing program. Certificate / License: BLS Certification required; Current RN license in DC, VA, or MD (depending on location of hire). Experience: Minimum of 1 year of direct patient care in an inpatient setting, preferably critical care; IV catheter insertion competency and infusion therapy experience preferred. Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of therapy indications, pharmacologic actions, interactions, side effects and monitoring of parameters; understanding of drug calculations; basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams); knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions; knowledge of Infusion Nursing Standards of Practice by the Infusion Nurses Society (INS); skilled in IV catheter insertion, implanted port care, obtaining vital signs, maintaining clear and concise EMR notes; ability to communicate clearly, examine documents for accuracy, establish effective working relationships, react calmly and effectively in emergencies, adapt to departmental changes, think critically; participation in development and adherence of policies and procedures related to infusion therapy and nursing care; independent work with off‑site supervision; floating to other sites as needed; maintaining licensure and certifications; practicing within state scope; adhering to all ARA and ARISE Policies and Procedures.
