MRI Technologist

The MRI Technologist operates imaging equipment and software, primarily MRI equipment, to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role requires proficiency in operating imaging equipment and ensuring patient safety while maintaining high-quality imaging standards. The MRI Technologist position necessitates a strong commitment to patient care, technical expertise, and collaborative communication with patients and healthcare professionals.

The technologist operates relevant imaging equipment proficiently, selecting appropriate technical factors. Captures high-quality diagnostic images across various machines by evaluating, reformatting, and verifying images for clarity and completeness before submission for interpretation. Prepares, positions, and transfers patients for imaging procedures while explaining the process and addressing any concerns. Provides radiation protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards. Assesses patient condition and initiates appropriate actions to changes in patient condition while monitoring data. Evaluates appropriate orders, documents contrast, and patient responses before, during, and after imaging procedures. Ascertains MRI compatibility with all equipment going into the MRI suite, along with any applicable patient-specific metallic implants. Maintains and monitors MRI equipment for unsafe conditions, performs routine cleaning and maintenance, and reports malfunctions to appropriate service personnel. Submits requests for equipment or technology needs and ensures resolution. Exhibits proficiency in advanced procedures and assists with clinical rotations if applicable. Performs IV insertion proficiently if applicable and utilizes POC devices as necessary. Manages pacemaker safely when applicable. Other duties as directed.

Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency in operating imaging equipment and using imaging software to acquire high-quality diagnostic images. Skilled in effectively communicating with patients, explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and providing emotional support. Ability to communicate and work effectively within a healthcare team, collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Physical Requirements: The position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis. It requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift. The role necessitates the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
