Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Starting pay: $14–$16 per hour, depending on the type of care provided Service area: 324 Main Ave S, Magee, MS, 39111 and surrounding communities Schedule: Flexible scheduling Help at Home is seeking caring, dependable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes and communities. About the Role As a Direct Support Professional, you will provide one‑on‑one support to help individuals build daily living skills and live as independently as possible. You will teach and assist with everyday activities, encourage participation in the community, and support personal goals while promoting dignity, choice, and self‑advocacy. Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of a background check and required training. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with proof of insurance, either primary or secondary coverage. Ability to work safely and respectfully in individuals’ homes and communities. Compassion, reliability, and a desire to make a positive impact. Preferred Experience Preference will be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following: Supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and/or autism. Implementing Individual Activity Support Plans (ASP) and Plans of Service and Supports (PSS). Using foundational behavior‑support strategies, including redirection, visual prompting, and environmental modification. Responsibilities Help individuals develop daily living skills, including cooking, cleaning, grooming, hygiene, and other personal care activities. Provide hands‑on assistance based on individual needs while encouraging independence. Provide transportation and support participation in shopping, social events, and community activities. Help individuals work toward personal goals and recognize their progress. Promote personal choice, independence, and self‑advocacy. Maintain accurate documentation of care, activities, and progress.
