Registered Behavior Technician

Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)As a Registered Behavior Tech, you will support teachers and administrators by working with students with behavior challenges in a classroom setting. In this role, you may work one-on-one with a student in a mainstream or special education classroom. You may be asked to support multiple students in a separate classroom designed to meet their unique educational needs. Your students will vary in age from prekindergarten to adult-transition, depending on the school to which you will be assigned within the district. Their behavior challenges may range from mild to moderate to severe. The level of intervention and support they require will be determined case-by-case, according to the parameters outlined in their individual education plans (IEP) or 504 plans. Your primary responsibilities will involve helping students learn to manage their behavior and optimize their learning experience. You will also play an important role in preserving a positive learning environment for their classmates and teachers. You will help students meet individual behavioral and academic goals by encouraging positive behaviors and setting appropriate boundaries. Teachers and administrators will also rely on you to observe and report students' progress toward the goals outlined in their IEP/504 plans. Our ideal applicant is compassionate, steady under pressure, and capable of meeting the needs of students who require significant behavioral support.Duties and responsibilities include:Assist with the implementation and monitoring of individualized education plans (IEP) or 504 plansMaintain and keep client service logs up to date for each student for whom services are providedMaintain confidentiality and exercise discretion pertaining to the school environmentSupport students in transition to general education through the use of inclusion support techniques, such as shadow promptingAssist in the management and shaping of student behavior with positive reinforcement strategiesAssist and or tutor students individually or in small groupsMonitor and supervise students both inside the classroom and during outside activitiesContinually assist in identifying and developing new reinforcement options that will be motivating to studentsEnsure all services are performed in accordance with state laws and school policiesCollaborate and consult with school and district staff to support student progressDeliver hands-on and supervised toileting and diapering assistance to students while maintaining dignity, privacy, and full compliance with internal policiesAssist in maintaining a neat, orderly, and clean learning environmentAssist BCBA with observations and data collection for assessmentsAccept and apply feedback provided by supervisorsRequirements include:Must be able to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 poundsMust be able to provide life-saving interventions if needed. This includes the ability to perform at least 5 sets of hands only CPR for roughly 2 minutesMust be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods of timeMust be able to sit on the floor, stand, or walk for extended periods of time which normally will be the length of the school day and include the physical demands of assisting a student or students in and outside of a classroom spaceMust be willing and able to restrain/hold/transport and utilize quick body movements as indicated in the Behavior Intervention Plan while working with children with challenging behaviorMust have manual dexterity to perform specific computer and electronic device functions for data collectionMust be able to receive and communicate detailed information through oral communicationMust have visual acuity to read and comprehend written communication through computer, electronic devices, and paper meansMust have reliable transportation and be willing and able to travel between different job sites based on job assignmentMust be flexible and willing to work in a variety of schools and settingsMust have the ability to be understanding, patient, friendly, and show a receptive attitude toward children with special needs and must demonstrate the ability to remain calm under stressful conditionsAbility to read, write, and communicate effectively in English at a level required for successful job performanceAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memosAbility to write simple correspondenceAbility to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to employees of the school districtAbility to meet and interact with teachers and students with tact, courtesy, and discretionHighschool-level math proficiencyBenefits package includes:Competitive compensationMedical, dental, vision, 401(k), and more starting the first of the month after 30 days of full-time employmentQualifications:Education: High School Diploma or equivalentExperience: Prior ABA experience working with children in a home, facility, or school setting is preferredLicensure and Certifications: Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification and/or a current RBT certification on voluntary inactive status through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) BLS certification
