Indirect Auto Lending Underwriter

Coastal1 is looking to hire an Indirect Auto Lending Hybrid Underwriter!

An Indirect Auto Lending Underwriter is responsible for timely and accurate underwriting and negotiation of all Indirect Lending loan applications originated through Coastal1's network of auto dealerships, gathering information, and analyzing credit history of loan applicants in order to approve, deny or recommend loans based on guidelines and lending authority. Build a loan portfolio that meets all of Coastal1's strategic goals, in terms of credit quality, spread, and volume.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required. Associated degree preferred.
• At least 2 years demonstrated successful lending or related experience within the automobile industry. Previous experience in an indirect lending environment a plus.
• PC Proficiency to include Microsoft Office and other banking software.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Must understand basic math concepts.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously with time management/organizational/multi-tasking skills.
• Must be able to work under pressure and have the ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to maintain a positive and upbeat Credit Union image.
• Ability to handle confidential information securely.
• Must be capable of accurate and timely performance of duties.
• Ability to work collaboratively across all levels and functions of Coastal1 to coordinate solutions.
• Bi-lingual helpful.

Job Responsibilities

• Review, underwrite, and decision Indirect consumer loan applications originated through Coastal1's auto dealership network by gathering appropriate information and analyzing the credit history of loan applicants.
• Promptly communicate and negotiate lending decisions back to the applicable dealership.
• Mitigate risk through thorough underwriting practices, balancing risk versus reward to assist in building a strong portfolio that meets Credit Union credit quality and performance objectives.
• Partner with Dealer Relationship Managers to cultivate relationships with new and existing dealer clients.
• Ensure compliance with Coastal1's Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering Policy and related procedures, Member Identification Program (MIP), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and record keeping requirements.
• Assist others in the Indirect Lending Department as needed.
• Perform other duties as required.
