Respiratory Therapist

This position is for a Night shift with 3x12 hour shifts.

This is a 13-week contract position.

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and patient transport within the facility as medically prescribed, adhering to the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans, explaining procedures and equipment, and providing necessary education upon discharge.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct physician prescribed treatments with various ventilatory, oxygen, and aerosol devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and secretion clearance.
• Execute patient suctioning through various methods (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal).
• Monitor oximetry and capnography as per policy.
• Review patients' chest x-rays and conduct pulmonary function studies according to policy.
• Assist with bronchoscopy, chest tube placement, and emergency tracheostomy care.
• Perform arterial punctures and assess ventilation efficiency.
• Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Maintain mechanical ventilation equipment and perform preventative maintenance.
• Document treatments and communicate with attending physicians regarding therapy effectiveness.
• Maintain accurate respiratory therapy charging and data entry.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

Licensure as a Respiratory Therapist is required. Additional relevant certifications in BLS and ACLS are preferred. Candidates should possess experience in respiratory care delivery and patient management.
