Senior Mechanical Engineer - HVAC, Piping & Plumbing Design-Build - St Louis, Nashville, Charlotte

Gryphon Oakwood are partnered with a $1.2B design-build mechanical contractor that are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to assist in the design of complex mechanical systems. These would be a part of projects across mission critical environments (data centers, healthcare, manufacturing).

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead mechanical design and implementation projects, ensuring schedules, budgets, and quality standards are met.
• Design, specify, and select mechanical systems and components, with consideration for energy efficiency, cost, performance, and regulatory requirements.
• Perform load calculations, airflow analyses, equipment sizing, and other technical assessments to support mechanical system design.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable local and international codes, standards, and safety regulations, including ASHRAE, LEED, and NFPA.
• Prepare and review technical documentation, including design drawings, specifications, equipment selections, submittals, and cost estimates.
• Provide technical oversight throughout installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of HVAC systems.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project team members.
• Collaborate with clients, owners, contractors, and internal teams to understand project requirements and develop effective technical solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
• 8+ years of relevant mechanical engineering, design, or design-build experience, with a strong focus on HVAC and piping systems.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• LEED accreditation is a plus.
• Proficiency with HVAC design and engineering software, including AutoCAD, Revit, Trane TRACE, or Carrier HAP.
• Working knowledge of building management systems (BMS).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, contractors, and internal and external project teams.
• Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership.
• Strong work ethic with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. xhyhwjd
