We are seeking an AM Assistant Restaurant Manager to join our team. This position assists in the effective management and direction of the Restaurant operation by providing quality service to the guest, excellent leadership to the employees and monitoring cost and inventory to ensure a profitable operation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Assists in the supervision of the Restaurant and Bar staff, to include scheduling, enforcing service standards and in the training and motivation of the staff.
- Assists in the supervision of the Banquet, In-Room Dining, Restaurant and Bar staff, to include scheduling, enforcing service standards and in the training and motivation of the staff.
- Visually inspect the Restaurant and Bar and take action to ensure the restaurant is clean and organized and all equipment is in working order.
- Assigns and inspects all Restaurant associates sidework daily.
- Oversees the setting up of the dining room and service areas.
- Regularly monitors product quality and plate presentation to ensure consistency of service standards.
- Ensure food items are prepared to guest specifications, by interacting with guests, ascertaining satisfaction and assisting in resolving the issue if a problem of dissatisfaction arises with the level of service or the food item requested.
- Regularly monitors supplies, to include linen, glassware, china, silverware and condiments, to ensure the restaurant is properly stocked to meet the needs of business.
- Regularly monitors the payroll budget to ensure labor costs are aligned with the forecast
- Assists in conducting performance evaluations and coaches and counsels Restaurant employees when necessary.
- Regularly assists the Restaurant Manager in conducting Restaurant staff meetings for the purpose of keeping the staff informed, providing training and to create a positive work environment.
- Reviews the Reservation Book, Group Resumes, Event Schedules and daily reports to ensure the Restaurant is properly staffed to meet business demands.
- Reviews, revises and approves daily payroll reports as needed.
- Assists employees and may perform in the capacity of any of the positions supervised.
- Documents and submits a work order to report items that need to be repaired and follows up with Maintenance accordingly.
- All other duties as assigned by the supervisor
- Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations and etiquette.
- The ability to effectively deal with employees and customers some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
- Able to write Food & Beverage reports, business correspondences, memos and employee performance evaluations
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to move through a crowded Restaurant to monitor activity.
- Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively in English.
- Basic math skills that include the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Able to work in a fast paced environment.
- Meets legal age requirements for the position.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. High school diploma is preferred. Previous Food and Beverage and/or Restaurant supervisory experience is preferred. Excellent wine knowledge is also preferred. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid California Driver License is required. Certified in the Responsible Service of Alcohol is preferred. CPR/First Aid Certification is preferred. The pay rate for this position is $25.00 - $30.00 per hour. This is the pay range for this position that the Hotel reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors, such as experience, type of hotel experience, and education.
