Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Role Overview: A registered nurse practicing independently in a clinical setting, providing routine and complex patient care while managing contingencies and long-term goals. The nurse delegates tasks appropriately to care team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities Deliver nursing care following the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation. Address psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families. Administer medications and treatments per protocol, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness. Document patient history, symptoms, medication administration, and care provided. Assess learning needs and educate patients, families, and caregivers, identifying issues and resources. Qualifications & Skills Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. At least 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred. Current RN license in the state of employment or a compact license. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, and TNCC are required within specified periods, depending on experience. New nurses must attend orientation and complete competency validations, including specialty-specific training. Additional Requirements Participation in residency or orientation programs for new licensed RNs. Ability to document accurately and maintain ongoing competency verifications.
