Job Overview Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for a Manager, Technical Lifecycle Management to join our team in Irvine, CA. The role will use multidisciplinary engineering and supply chain knowledge to assist in the execution of cross‑functional projects in support of the company’s strategies, goals, objectives and product portfolio. Duties & Responsibilities Drive execution of Life Cycle Management projects in a cross‑functional setting. Work under consultative direction toward predetermined long‑range goals. Address unusually complex problems and develop highly innovative solutions. Apply scientific and engineering knowledge to develop and improve medical device products, associated processes, and manufacturing equipment, including validations. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (internal and external) to determine root causes, develop mitigations and corrective/preventive actions for processes and manufacturing issues. Select appropriate methods and techniques to obtain solutions within defined practices and policies. Demonstrate leadership within and across functions and lead an engineering team. Evaluate manufacturing processes/products, collaborate with R&D, NPI, Sourcing, QA, MFG, and Finance teams to lead projects/initiatives that improve quality, productivity, and reduce costs. Utilize Six Sigma and Lean tools and methodologies. Design troubleshooting guides and decision‑making matrices to standardize resolution of process/manufacturing technical issues. Provide technical training and guidance to engineering personnel. Ensure quality of projects including design, data summary, report and manuscript preparation, and compliance to applicable regulations. Evaluate progress and results against goals and objectives; recommend major changes in procedures or objectives. Maintain accurate documentation of concepts, designs, drawings, processes, test methods, data analysis and conclusions. Provide technical support for outside suppliers, vendors, and consultants; conduct supplier visits and implement process improvements. Prepare proposals and cost estimates of project/process related costs or cost improvements. Guide and direct the work of direct reports and related project team members. Communicate business‑related issues or opportunities to next management level. Ensure subordinates follow all company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices; ensure resources needed are available and in good condition. Ensure personal and company compliance with all applicable regulations, requirements, policies, and procedures. Perform any other duties as assigned. Experience and Education Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required); advanced degree preferred. Minimum 10 years of professional experience; Medical device industry experience preferred. Knowledge of ISO 13485 Design Control and manufacturing process IQ/OQ/PQ qualifications related to medical devices is required. Six Sigma Process Excellence knowledge and Black Belt Certification preferred. Knowledge of financial accounting and analysis methods to assess product standard costs, project values, and capital requirements is required. Leadership experience in managing technical relationships with external suppliers and OEMs is required. Previous supervisory experience is required. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Certifications & Licenses Strong project management skills (Microsoft Project, FPX and/or other project management tools). Supplier development skills. Strong communication, team building, and cross‑functional coordination skills. Benefits Base pay range: $118,000.00 – $203,550.00. Employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (401(k)).
