OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

As an agency found on principles of inclusion, Mary Cariola Center fosters an environment where all are welcome, and our differences are respected and valued.Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide students with sound clinical programs to meet their Occupational Therapy needs as outlined on their Individual Education Plan (IEP)Conduct clinical programs in individual and/or group sessions as per the IEPProvide on-going consultation, training, and support for classroom staff to carry over therapeutic programsProvide students with appropriate sensory motor programsWork cooperatively with team members in the evaluation and development of prescriptive feeding programs designed to improve oral motor abilitiesAttend various discipline related meetings and in-services (e.g. team meetings, department meetings, program meetings, staff development days)Work closely with parents to provide appropriate home programsWork cooperatively with the interdisciplinary team responsible for coordinating and implementing goals and recommendations for each studentDesign and/or obtain adaptive positioning systems necessary to provide proper alignment and facilitate independent movement patterns (e.g. wheel chairs, standers)Participate in the design and/or modification of adaptive equipment or devices (e.g. utensils, switches)Maintain written documentation in accordance with departmental and agency regulationsUnderstand the psychological, social and medical characteristics of the population servedProvide clinical instruction for future therapistsOther duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Occupational TherapyNYS Occupational Therapy license (or in pursuit of)Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Occupational TherapyPrior experience in Occupational TherapyEEO StatementWe are an equal opportunity employer.
