Travel RN - ICUAmerican TravelerRoanoke, Virginia, United StatesPosition status: OpenAssignment type: travelShift: NightsLength (weeks): 13Openings: 1$2,329.00/week (estimated advertised weekly pay)DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a whole-house float position covering ICU, PCU, and MS units at a Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring a VA or compact RN license.DetailsWhole-house float role covering ICU, PCU, and MS units, requiring comfort working across all three specialtiesNight shift schedule of 3x12 hours, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AMUnit ratios average 2:1 in ICU, 5:1 in PCU (may flex to 7:1), and 6:1 in MSFloating staffing needs reassessed every 4 hours, with potential to float 2-3 times per shiftWeekend requirement of either every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week blockRequired to work one holiday per 13-week contractEpic EMR experience requiredFacility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeksRequirementsActive VA state or compact RN license required (pending license accepted only for candidates from non-compact single-state licenses)Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSSCPI certification preferredMinimum 2 years of ICU experience required, preferably from a large Level I or II trauma facilityComfortable working with ratios up to 1:5 or higher across ICU, PCU, and MS unitsExperience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, PICC line management, central line care/management, arterial line management, and blood product administrationSkilled in trach management, non-invasive airway support (nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP), ventilator management, and chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac)Proficient in cardiac monitoring, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and titrating cardiac and vasoactive dripsExperience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG preferredExperience with IV insulin protocolsEpic charting system experience requiredTeaching hospital and Level I trauma experience preferredPrevious charge experience preferredAdditional InformationWork in a 703-bed acute care teaching hospital that is the region's only Level I Trauma Center for adults and pediatricsFacility is Magnet-designated for nursing excellence and affiliated with Virginia Tech Carilion School of MedicineCertified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke CenterFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyLocal candidates are accepted, with radius-based eligibility rules applying for certain inpatient RN assignmentsPrevious employees must have a minimum one-year break before returning as a travelerTravelers who have worked 365 days on assignment are not eligible to return, regardless of separation period, with case-by-case exceptions reviewed by facility leadership
