Procurement & Logistics Coordinator

Job Summary

We are seeking a Procurement & Logistics Coordinator for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Sylmar, CA. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with experience in purchasing, logistics, shipping, receiving, inventory control, or production operations support.

The Procurement & Logistics Coordinator will help maintain inventory accuracy, process purchase orders, coordinate shipments, and support daily logistics activity in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position offers long-term potential, hands-on training, and the opportunity to grow into a more inventory-focused role over time.

Candidates will initially shadow the current Shipping Coordinator to learn department processes, making this a strong opportunity for someone who values teamwork, supportive training, process improvement, and career stability.

Key Responsibilities

- Generate, process, and track purchase orders to support inventory availability and operational needs.
- Coordinate freight, shipping, and logistics activity with suppliers, carriers, and internal teams.
- Monitor incoming orders, shipment documentation, delivery schedules, and related communication.
- Assist with inventory control, cycle counts, tracking, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Verify physical inventory against system records and help maintain accurate inventory data.
- Support the Shipping Coordinator with daily shipping operations and cross-department communication.

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay rate: $23.00 to $27.00 per hour, depending on experience.
- Job type: Temp-to-hire.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Start date: ASAP, to be determined upon candidate selection.
- Opportunity: Long-term role with potential for permanent placement.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Process purchase orders and support procurement activity to maintain proper inventory levels.
- Coordinate domestic shipping, freight, carrier communication, and delivery tracking.
- Assist with inventory control, cycle counts, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Support daily shipping operations and communicate with sales teams, suppliers, carriers, and internal departments.

- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in procurement, purchasing, logistics, shipping and receiving, inventory control, or production operations support.
- Knowledge of inventory management processes and purchase order creation.
- Strong computer skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and update reports.
- Ability to manage email communication and follow up quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organization, attention to detail, and multitasking ability.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Dependable, responsible, team-oriented, and willing to learn department processes.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with domestic and international purchase orders.
- Familiarity with UPS, FedEx, and freight coordination for air and ground shipments.
- Experience supporting shipping operations in a manufacturing, production, or warehouse environment.
- Interest in developing into a more detailed inventory-focused role over time.
