Mortgage Loan Originator

• Assist intermediaries and prospective members with mortgage lending needs
• Answer general questions and conduct pre-qualification
• Originate new mortgage loans and maintain an active pipeline
• Proactively seek new loan prospects and provide processing support
• Solicit mortgage referrals from branches, member services, and new business development
• Act as subject matter expert on first mortgages for new and existing members
• Review and follow up on first mortgage loan referrals
• Originate first mortgage loans via telephone sales presentations and face-to-face meetings as needed
• Take complete loan applications
• Collaborate with loan processors, underwriters, Realtors, and title attorneys
• Meet loan production, service, and quality goals through self-sourcing and pipeline management
• Conduct and participate in mortgage promotional events, activities, and seminars
• Maintain knowledge of current trends, compliance requirements, and industry changes

Requirements Most recent 2 years of production including experience with conventional saleable purchase money loans and purchase transactions from external referral sources preferred Must have and be eligible to maintain an active NMLS License Number Minimum experience of 5 years in residential lending preferred Must have documented current loan referral sources Strong knowledge of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac and FHA, VA, and USDA Guidelines Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience in applying credit risk principles to lending recommendations Understanding of financial services related products and overall financial services operations Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to routinely work Saturdays Fluent in English required and Spanish preferred Must comply with all requirements under the SAFE ACT and Credit Union policies and procedures NMLS registration pertaining to the SAFE ACT must be kept current Must notify the Credit Union within 30 days of changes reflected on the NMLS registry Ability to perform essential job duties satisfactorily, communicate face to face or through technology, sit and stand for various increments of time, lift/push up to 10 lbs, and perform clerical office duties on technology Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in mortgage lending, including origination and processing of first mortgage loans, while maintaining compliance with industry regulations and guidelines.
