Mechanics Bank is searching for a Universal Banker to work on‑site with a focus on customer service, cash handling and compliance. Responsibilities Transaction Processing Performs routine teller transactions and works directly with customers, accepting, verifying and processing deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, payments, transfers, and mail and night‑drop transactions. Serves customers in line quickly while maintaining attention to detail and complying with policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines. Provides comprehensive deposit services, opens and closes checking, savings, money market, CD and IRA accounts. Assists with account reconcilement, statements, check orders, closures, address changes, stop payments, debit card maintenance, wire transfers and safe deposit box entrances. Handles account maintenance, online and mobile banking issues, resolving customer concerns. Provides support at other branches as needed. Customer Service & Sales Interviews and profiles customers to recommend appropriate banking products and services. Promotes deposit and lending products that meet customer needs. Represents the Bank professionally in person and over the phone with timely, accurate responses. Follows up with new and existing customers to ensure satisfaction and address questions. Cash Handling & Security Maintains and balances cash supply for transactions, following all cash handling policies and procedures. Reviews transactions for red flags and fraud, stays aware of criminal scams, and reviews accounts before overrides. Ensures new account documentation is obtained, reviewed, and stored per bank policy. Processes and balances ATM, daily branch, and cash orders; assists in opening and closing the branch with security procedures. Administrative & Compliance Tasks Collects and processes reports and forms (e.g., Currency Transaction Reports, RegCC, holds, overdraft) to ensure compliance with Bank policies and regulatory programs. Completes required compliance training by assigned due dates. Maintains compliance with internal standards and federal and state regulations, reviewing others' work for compliance. Participates in monthly branch audits or daily operational report reviews. Travel required: 10‑20% Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required; additional experience may substitute. Minimum of 2 years of customer service experience. Minimum of 1 year of banking and cash handling experience. Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and customer focus. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Decision‑making using available information. Working knowledge of bank deposit and loan products and related vendor services. Ability to persuade customers about the value of the bank’s products. Knowledge of applicable bank policies and procedures.
