Starting Salary: $100,000–$150,000, commensurate with experience

McCormack, Mattei & Holler, P.C. is a well-established boutique civil litigation firm with an

outstanding reputation, based in Garden City, New York.

We're looking to add a skilled Litigation Attorney for immediate hire. Someone with 2+ years of

litigation experience, who enjoys the practice of law and wants to continue building their skills. If

you're someone who likes being in the courtroom, arguing motions, taking depositions, handling

arbitrations, and taking ownership of your cases, we'd love to talk with you.

About the Role

This is a high-volume civil litigation and insurance defense practice. The attorney will be responsible for managing a caseload and overseeing matters from inception through resolution, including trial when necessary.

You will work directly with clients, opposing counsel, insurance representatives, medical providers, and the courts. The position involves both virtual and in-person appearances, depending on the matter.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Manage a high-volume caseload from inception through trial or resolution.
• Handle all phases of civil litigation and insurance defense matters, with a focus on fraudulent claims.
• Appear in person and/or virtually for court conferences, motions, hearings, and trials.
• Appear virtually at arbitrations and handle arbitration matters.
• Draft pleadings, threshold motions, discovery demands and responses, arbitration contentions, appeals, legal memoranda, and other litigation documents.
• Conduct legal research and develop case strategy.
• Advise clients on litigation strategy and provide legal opinions regarding the handling and resolution of claims.
• Communicate promptly and effectively with clients, opposing counsel, insurance carriers, experts, witnesses, and other parties.
• Negotiate settlements when appropriate while strongly advocating for your clients.
• Manage case deadlines, discovery obligations, and arbitration schedules.
• Prepare matters for trial and participate in trial proceedings when necessary.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

• A J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Admission to practice law in New York (preferred).
• At least 2 years of litigation experience (preferred).
• Strong legal writing, research and technological skills.
• Strong digital literacy with an eagerness to use new technology to speed up daily tasks.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Confidence communicating with clients, opposing counsel, and the court.
• A strong work ethic and a genuine interest in litigation.
• A willingness to continue learning and developing professionally.

Trial experience is a plus, but not required. Attorneys who have strong litigation experience and are willing to continue developing their trial and courtroom skills are encouraged to apply.

This is a hybrid position based in Garden City, New York. A reliable vehicle is recommended for

The starting salary for the position is $100,000 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
